Data Bases

Data Bases

At present the ‘-omics’ approaches like genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, glycomics, etc. are revolutionising biomedical research. A central feature of these technologies is the generation of huge amounts of heterogeneous data. Key to successful use of these new technologies will be the ability to store and, even more importantly, to search data for essential information. MicroDiscovery is fully accustomed with the most powerful and effective method for organising and querying huge amounts of data: relational databases. This technology is indispensable for arranging many areas of life from airline ticket booking to banking. Nevertheless, many new data mining methods disregard it in their development and specific databases are still often neglected in biomedical research despite the advantages they offer.
